Where is Express Auto Repairs?
We’re at 294 Clare St, London E2 9HD, in Bethnal Green, East London. The garage is right beside Cambridge Heath Overground station, just off Cambridge Heath Road where it meets Hackney Road and Mare Street. Use the map on our contact page for directions straight to the door.
What are your opening hours?
We’re open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm, and closed on Sundays. If you need to drop off or collect outside those times, call 07985 523903 or send us a WhatsApp and we’ll see what we can arrange. Bank holiday hours can vary, so check before you travel.
Do I need to book, or can I just turn up?
Booking is the best way to make sure we can see your car when you want. Use the online booking form, call 07985 523903 or send a WhatsApp. If it’s urgent, ring first and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can fit you in that day.
How much will my repair cost?
It depends on your car and what it needs, so we don’t publish fixed prices. What we do promise is a clear price before any work starts. If we find something extra while the car is with us, we call you first and nothing is done without your agreement.
What services do you offer?
We carry out MOTs, car servicing and oil changes, tyres and puncture repairs, brake pads and discs, and general repairs and diagnostics, including warning lights. If your job isn’t listed, call or WhatsApp us with your registration and the problem, and we’ll tell you straight away if we can help.
How long does an MOT take?
The MOT test usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. If your car needs repairs to pass, it will take longer, depending on the parts needed. Let us know when you book if you need the car back by a set time, and we’ll plan the work around you.
How do I check when my MOT is due?
Use the free “Check MOT history” service on GOV.UK. Enter your registration and you’ll see your MOT expiry date, past results and any advisories. You can have an MOT up to a month, minus a day, before it expires and keep the same renewal date.
What happens if my car fails its MOT?
You’ll get a list of faults marked dangerous or major. A car with a dangerous fault can’t be driven away. We explain each fault, give you a price for the repair and, once you agree, fix it and arrange the retest so you’re legal again as quickly as possible.
Will servicing at an independent garage void my warranty?
No. UK rules let you have your car serviced by an independent garage without losing the manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses parts of matching quality. Keep the invoices as your record. It’s your choice where your car is serviced.
What is the legal minimum tyre tread depth?
The legal minimum for car tyres in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tread, around the whole tyre. Each illegal tyre can mean a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points. Try the 20p test, or ask us to measure it for you.
Can my punctured tyre be repaired?
Often it can. A car tyre can be repaired to British Standard BS AU 159 if the damage is in the central area of the tread and no wider than 6mm. Damage to the sidewall or shoulder means the tyre has to be replaced. We’ll check it and tell you honestly.
My engine warning light is on. Can I still drive?
If the light is steady and the car feels normal, drive carefully and book a diagnostic check soon. If it’s flashing, that usually means a misfire which can damage the catalytic converter, so slow down and stop as soon as it’s safe. Call us and we’ll advise.
Can I message you on WhatsApp?
Yes. Send a WhatsApp to 07985 523903 with your registration, what’s wrong and a photo or short video if it helps. It’s often the quickest way to get an idea of what’s needed and book a time. We reply during opening hours, Monday to Saturday.
